Toddler Sessions
Available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sessions are structured incorporating child directed indoor and outdoor play, mat time (early language and story), morning tea, activities and craft, music and movement.
For children aged 18 months to 5 years.
Class sizes are limited to 15 children, due to space and noise considerations, and waitlists can apply.
Experienced session leaders select term themes, set up the classroom, facilitate activities and run the mat sessions.

Grown-ups supervise their children and assist with clean up, including a roster for laundry and sweeping and yearly busy bees.
Cost for a weekly session is $160 per term for one child. Mid-term or multiple enrolment costs vary - please contact us for relevant breakdowns. Concession rates are available for Health Care Card holders.
Playgroup WA membership is required to attend our Toddler Mon-Thurs sessions. This is an annual fee of $35 (reduced to $15 in Term 4) and is transferable to attendance at any playgroup. We can register for you if you are not already a member.
Mat sessions are optional. If your child does not feel like participating, please take them outside to play to allow those taking part to hear the session leader.

FAQ
Casa Mia Montessori Playgroup is a not-for-profit volunteer run playgroup for the Bayswater and surrounds community.
Volunteers run Casa Mia through a committee. We welcome all help! Parents are encouraged to assist with fundraising either through donations or events.
Term dates loosely follow the WA Department of Education.
Photos are occasionally taken by committee members to post on Instagram and Facebook. Our social media policy is that no faces of children are photographed. If you do not wish for your child to be photographed at all, please let the session leader know.
Sharing is not forced; rather, children wanting to play with an item in use are told when it becomes available.
Morning tea is brought along and this is a shared time. Parents and children set up and the children eat and wash up together. Please bring a piece of fruit, a vegetable or low allergy crackers to share. Strictly no nuts or egg.
Bathrooms are sized both for children and adults, and baby change facilities are available.
Dress kids in clothes they can move freely in and which may get 'ruined'.
Hats & Sunscreen are available for children who forget their own.
Sickness means staying at home, sadly! We are able to offer make up sessions within the term.

We acknowledge those parents from Casa Mia Montessori Community School in Bassendean who first started this playgroup at the RSL Hall there in 2010. Our next home on Tara St in Morley was where the playgroup really began to expand, and after a short stint on Robert St in Bayswater we have been lucky to call Hudson St our home since 2016.
Alison Harvey was a steady and guiding presence as a session leader throughout this time - we thank her for eight years of service at Casa Mia and the expertise she then contributed to the committee. Within the Montessori framework, Alison valued the freedom afforded both to leaders and children to choose how to direct what they are doing. "Watching the children wash up after shared morning tea is also a visible, regular reminder of the value of mastering practical life skills from a young age," she says.
Support from Lotterywest and City of Bayswater is also gratefully received.
